"Cannabis has changed our lives. I feel like I am meeting the bright, funny, silly boy he used to be before he had seizures and pharmaceuticals. He used to be advanced for his age at all of his checkups, until he began having seizures. Since seizures and medications, he had fallen behind so far developmentally. I have missed out on experiencing the milestones all parents look forward to. He has missed out on a normal childhood. He has grown up in hospitals and consumed gallons and gallons of medications that have done so much damage. He has had over 100 IVs, been one dose away from both medically induced comas, as well as breathing machines, all in the name of pharmaceuticals.
Cannabis has given us the control that pharmaceuticals never could, at a fraction of the dose and without any of the side effects that pharmaceuticals gave him. I finally have hope that he can catch up developmentally and be seizure free and able to get a driver's license down the road. We have already weaned off of Vimpat and will begin weaning off of Divalproex in the new year!"

How Did You Discover Cannabis Medicines?
- Myoclonic seizures - hundreds per day
- Tonic Clonic seizures - 1-4 per week
- Atypical Absence - 5-10 per week
- Partial Complex/Simple - usually non-stop. Very drowsy, sleeping 16-18 hours per day with constant drooling
- Sensory processing issues. He did a lot of clapping and banging on his legs/walls to self-stimulate
- Very poor conversational skills. He couldn't hold a conversation past the initial "what are you doing" question
- Finished Second Grade only knowing half of the alphabet, couldn't sound any letters out or spell any words, couldn't participate in group discussions in class as he could not grasp the concept of contributing like ideas and thoughts
- Status seizures every 2-3 months which resulted in Emergency Room trips and 4-7 day hospital stays; to the PICU half the time. Too weak from seizures and medications to use most playground equipment (anything that required upper body strength) and 8-10 second delays between hearing a question and actually processing it to respond.

- Intractable Epileptic Encephalopathy - Both generalized and partial seizures
"Seizure-free since April 2016, aside from a handful of seizures while weaning and adjusting medications. He rarely naps during the day, most days he only sleeps about 12 hours. He has stopped drooling, stopped banging on the walls, the clapping/leg slapping has been reduced by about 90% and he can have a conversation with about 4-5 questions that he can recall.
Within one month of starting Third Grade, he knows his full alphabet, the sounds for all of his letters, a word for each letter and can spell half a dozen words. He also now understands the concept of numbers and how they relate to counting objects/money and can contribute simple ideas to group discussions (for example, a discussion about butterflies used to mean he would say something about going to the store with mommy, now it means he can add something like "butterflies are beautiful" and although no great revelations, they are on topic).
We haven't been to the ER since the day we started oil, he can hold his own weight on the monkey bars for about half of the way across, and now just a 4-5 second delay in response."
